Tyge Hvass

Tyge Hvass, born in Randrup in 1885 and died in Copenhagen in 1963, wast he architect of the House of Denmark and the Danish Church Frederikskirken.Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he worked with the architect Anton Rosen before designing the Danish pavilions for the international exhibitions in Barcelona (1929), Antwerp (1930), Brussels (1935), Paris (1937)and New York (1939). His most emblematic projects include the J.F. Willumsen Museum (1957),the Æbelholt Abbey Museum (1957) and the Bellahøj open-air swimming pool(1960).His architectural style, both sober and functional, marked his era and has left a significant mark both in Denmark and internationally.
