A world-famous dancer (Darling) and her choreographer husband (Frans) returns to Copenhagen to perform the classical ballet Giselle at the Danish Royal Theater. But Darling discovers that her hip is irreparably damaged and she will not dance anymore. Her professional life, her world, is in ruins. And when her replacement Polly becomes the center of attention of the theater and Frans, her emotional state collapses.
